Storytelling in the Classroom

Target Group: Primary Teachers, Probationary Teachers & Special Needs Assistants

Presenter: Melissa Baker, Storyteller, theatre & Circus director, with a master of fine arts from the University of California offers a creative workshop in the art of performing and storytelling, specifically designed for teachers.

Workshop program
First Hour: Physical theatre & gesture: teachers learn exercises to relax & use movement & gesture to focus the energy of their class & help students listen.
Voice & rhythm: Voice & Rhythm exercises & practice support teachers in developing a wider range of vocal tools for communications.
Second Hour: Teach your class to create their own stories: Teachers are lead through a method for creating stories directly with a group. They gain practice & experience with this simple method among their colleagues.
